Following its international screenings, Bangladeshi short film “Chocolate” has now been released for audiences on the TIMES of Bangladesh YouTube channel. The 20-minute film is based on a true story. It is directed by Josim Ahmed and highlights the harsh reality of child abuse.

Speaking about the project, Josim Ahmed said the film explores violence and abuse faced by women and children — issues that are rarely portrayed on screen. The film also reflects on recent incidents in Bangladesh and raises concerns about the safety of children within their own homes.

The cast includes Golam Farida Chhonda, Shatabdi Wadud, Azizul Hakim and Shilpi Sarkar Apu.
Before its release in Bangladesh, the film secured a screening agreement with Shorts International, the British distribution company known for distributing Oscar-nominated short films.

Josim Ahmed previously worked with Shorts International through his 2017 film “Daag”, which was aired on mainstream television in the United States. His documentary “A Pair of Sandals”, based on the Rohingya crisis, was also distributed internationally by the company and later won the Best Director award in Türkiye.

Ahead of its Bangladesh release, “Chocolate” was screened on Shorts TV across several countries in the United States and Europe. The film was also made available through airlines, mobile platforms, video-on-demand services and other digital platforms worldwide.
