Burnt body found on Mouchak flyover in Dhaka
Police recovered the burnt body of an unidentified person from Dhaka's Mouchak flyover early today.
Due to the severe burns, police were unable to determine the victim’s age or gender.
A team from Shahjahanpur Police Station recovered the body from the flyover around 1:30am, said police.
Talking to reporters, Md Mehedi Hasan, sub-inspector of Shahjahanpur Police Station, said, “I went to the spot after receiving a call made to the national emergency service 999 on Saturday night and found the burnt body there. It is not clear whether the victim is a man or a woman because the body is completely burnt. It was not even possible to determine the age.”
The SI said a fire broke out on Mouchak flyover on Friday night. Fire service personnel rushed to the scene after being informed and extinguished the blaze.
On Saturday night, city corporation cleaners found the burnt body while cleaning the area and informed the authorities by calling 999. The victim is believed to have died in the fire, said the police official.
The body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
