Two CU assistant proctors resign

Two assistant proctors of Chittagong University have resigned from their posts, citing personal reasons.

The officials are Prof Md Bazlur Rahman and Dr Parveen Akter. According to sources, Prof Bazlur submitted his resignation on February 19, while Dr Parveen handed in hers on March 29.

Their letters were forwarded to the registrar through CU Proctor Prof Dr Hossain Shahid Sarwardi, with recommendations. In the letters, they mentioned health issues, personal challenges, and increasing academic workload in their departments as reasons for stepping down.

Prof Bazlur Rahman said, “Although the resignation letter was submitted to the registrar, it was sent through the proctor, who accepted it immediately. I have not performed any official duties of the proctor’s office since March 1. I made this decision due to my absence from the university and the pressure of institutional and research work. The decision was taken after discussions with all concerned.”

Registrar Prof Dr Saiful Islam, however, said, “I have not yet received any resignation letters. There may be a delay due to procedural formalities.”
