Press Accreditation Appeal Committee reconstituted
The information and broadcasting ministry has issued a notification reconstituting the Press Accreditation Appeal Committee.
If there is any complaint regarding press accreditation cards, the concerned journalist can appeal to this committee, which must settle the issue within 30 days.
The notification in this regard was issued on May 14. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farzana is the chairman of the reconstituted committee.
Members of the committee are Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M Saleh, Bangladesh Press Council Secretary Abdus Sabur, Jugantor Editor Abdul Hye Sikder, Independent Television Chief Executive Officer Akmal Hossain, and Times of Bangladesh Advisory Editor Mohammad Elias Uddin Khan.
Chief Information Officer Syed Abdal Ahmed will serve as the member-secretary of the committee.
Press accreditation cards grant journalists prior permission to enter key state offices and installations, including the Secretariat and the national parliament. The interim government faced widespread criticism after it cancelled the press accreditation cards of over a hundred journalists.
