Shapla Chattar crackdown: ICT allows questioning of Dipu Moni, Mozammel Babu and Farzana Rupa
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 today allowed its investigation agency to interrogate former minister Dipu Moni; former MD and editor-in-chief of Ekattor TV, Mozammel Babu, and the channel's principal correspondent Farzana Rupa for one day each in connection with a crimes against humanity case over the May 5, 2013, Shapla Chattar crackdown.
The order came after the prosecution submitted a plea seeking permission to question the three accused. The trio was produced before the tribunal during the hearing.
At the same time, the tribunal also extended the deadline for submitting the investigation report until August 10.
Earlier, Chief Prosecutor Aminul Islam told the tribunal that investigators had so far identified 58 deaths linked to the Shapla Chattar crackdown across four districts.
