Avik Anwar wins UAE touring car title after final-round victory

Bangladeshi racing driver Avik Anwar has won the Renault Clio class title in the Gulf Pro Car Championship Series 2025–26 and has also been crowned UAE Touring Car Champion, as the first-ever Bangladeshi to do so.

Anwar secured first place in his class in Round 7 of the series, competing against 10 drivers in the Renault Clio category. His season-long performance also earned him the overall championship title.

Anwar finished the season on 377 points, ahead of Maxim Volykin, who placed second with 207 points. The championship included a field of 40 international competitors.

The final race was held in wet conditions and that he competed on slick tyres, describing the result as one of his most challenging performances of the season. The field included drivers from the UK, Ireland, Germany, India, France, Russia, Ukraine, Pakistan, Hong Kong, China, Italy and Lebanon.

Anwar said the result marked “a significant moment for Bangladeshi motorsport”, arguing that the title reflected Bangladesh’s growing presence on the international racing stage.
