Meta raises Quest 3 and Quest 3S prices amid global RAM shortage
Meta has announced price increases across its Quest virtual reality headset lineup, citing a global surge in the cost of memory chips as the primary driver.
Starting 19 April, the Meta Quest 3S in its 128GB configuration will increase in price by $50 to $349.99, and the 256GB version will also rise by $50 to $449.99. The Meta Quest 3 will see a $100 price increase, bringing it to $599.99.
In a blog post, Meta stated that the global surge in the price of critical components — specifically memory chips — is affecting nearly every category of consumer electronics, including VR, and that the price adjustments are necessary to maintain the quality of hardware, software, and support offered through the Quest platform.
The increases will also apply to refurbished Meta Quest units, though accessories will remain at their current prices. Meta joins Samsung, Microsoft, and Sony in raising hardware prices in response to the RAM shortage.
