Three arrested

Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers first arrested a security guard from Comilla who went missing since December 6 for his alleged involvement in the robbery.

Later on the basis of his confessional statement, the DB team arrested three criminals Anwar Hussain, Nurul Isalm and Shambhue Chatterjee at around 8:30am from Tejgaon railway station and recovered 2.75 kg of gold from their possession.

The DB team is conducting several raids at different parts of the city with three arrestees to recover other valuables looted during the heist.

A gang of burglars made off with gold ornaments and cash worth Tk 12.80 crore after breaking through four jewellery shops at Mascot Plaza at Uttara.
