Try war criminals, collaborators
The Sanglap was held at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre auditorium in the city.
While answering a question regarding the trial of the war criminals, Organising Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) Mahmudur Rahman Manna said, "We (AL) started the process during our tenure and we pledge to conclude it if we are voted to power again".
On the issue of the trial of the war criminals, Information and Research Secretary of BNP Zahir Uddin Swapon stressed the need for a broad consensus among the major political parties about how the issue should be settled.
He, however, said that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman himself had pardoned the collaborators and BNP is only maintaining the status quo on the issue.
Blaming the political parties for forming alliances with the anti-liberation forces, noted musician Apel Mahmud said that major political parties joined hands with these 'anti-liberation forces' at different times.
Issues like the resignation of four advisers, deployment of the armed forces and their going to rest, uncertainty over the holding of elections within 90 days and AL's participation in it were also discussed in the Sanglap.
