Ershad appeals to SC for stay order
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad yesterday appealed to the Supreme Court seeking a stay order on the High Court verdict that sentenced him to two-year imprisonment in a graft case.
Advocate Moulavi Wahidullah filed the petition for Ershad.
The hearing may take place today.

On December 14, HC judge Faisal Mahmud Faizee rejected Ershad's appeal against the trial court verdict that awarded him three years' jail on July 6, 1995 in Japanese boat purchase corruption case, but he cut down the sentence by one year.
