Aug 17 blast accused Shah Alam arrested in B'baria

Md Shah Alam, a prime accused in August 17 bomb blast case in Brahmanbaria, was arrested at Shimrail Kandi on Sunday night.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of local Detective Brach (DB) police headed by Sub-Inspector Ali Arshad raided the house of Abdur Rahman Bayati and arrested his son Alam.

He will be produced before the court tomorrow, said police.

On August 17, 2005, a gang of terrorists under the command of Alam exploded a series of bombs at five points of the district town.

The DB police prepared a charge sheet against him and his followers.

The then government declared a bounty of Tk 25,000 for information leading to his arrest.
