Shanir Akhara Sangram Parishad leader released after arrest
Mosleuddin Masud, a leader of the movement for uninterrupted supply of water and electricity in Shanir Akhara, was released on bail after the police arrested him yesterday on charge of involvement in various illegal activities.
Masud, convener of Shanir Akhara Sangram Parishad, was arrested from his area in connection with three cases, including vandalism and robbery.
In separate statements, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesh Chhatra Union protested and condemned the arrest of Masud.
On May 5 this year, agitating people led by Masud staged a massive demonstration at Shanir Akhara in Shyampur demanding uninterrupted supply of water and electricity as they had been suffering from acute power and water crises for days.
