Regional confce on 'Exploring Masculinities' today

The inaugural ceremony of a three-day regional conference on 'Exploring Masculinities' organised by the Department of Women and Gender Studies, Dhaka University (DU) and AAKAR, India, will be held today at the Senate Building of the university.

DU Vice Chancellor Prof SMA Faiz will attend the inaugural session as chief guest and Fritz Meijndert, Charge d' Affaires, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as guest of honour.

Dr Harun-or-Rashid, dean, Faculty of Social Science, and Dr Sadrul Amin, dean, Faculty of Arts, will be present as special guests in the seminar to be chaired by Prof Dr Najma Cowdhury, Department of Women and Gender Studies, DU.

Rahul Roy, AAKAR representative, Habib-ur-Rahman, Dr Mangesh Kulkarni and other distinguished resource persons of South Asia will present papers on the first day of the conference today.

Dr Sanjay Srivastava, Dr Deepak Mehta, Shankar Ramaswamy and Saghir Bukhari-or-Luna will also present papers tomorrow. On Friday, the concluding day, Nicola Perera and Deeptha Achar will present papers.

Cultural programmes, including drama show, will also be held on the occasion.
