Jute workers call blockade on Sunday

Pat, Suta-Bastrakal Sramik Karmachari Sangram Parishad, a platform of workers and employees working at country's jute and textile mills, would enforce a dawn-to-dusk blockade on Sunday and go for indefinite blockade from December 26 demanding payment of arrears, bonus and other dues before the upcoming Eid-ul Azha.

They also announced to stage a sit-in in front of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) office in the city on Sunday.

The decision came at a meeting of trade union leaders of jute and textile mills at Shaheed Asad auditorium in the city.

Their demands also include taking measures for continuation of jute mills production and budget allocation for buying jute for the mills.

Convener of the Parishad Abul Bashar chaired the meeting while Joint Convener Hafizur Rahman Bhuiyan, Shahidullah Chowdhury, Sardar Motahar Uddin, Lutfar Rahman, Shafiuddin Ahmed and other leaders also spoke on the occasion.
