Resignation of 4 advisers criticised
They alleged that the four advisers had been inducted in the advisory council with some hidden agenda of 14-party combine but they had to tender resignation, as those could not be implemented.
They were speaking at a roundtable on 'Democracy and Development' organised by Bangladesh Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad at Cirdap auditorium in the city.
Former energy adviser Mahmudur Rahman chaired the function.
Former chief election commissioner justice Abdur Rouf urged the president/chief adviser to take bold steps for holding the next general election.
He also demanded immediate introduction of voter identity cards. He said though he had started the process of ID card, the consecutive governments did not continue it.
Rouf called upon the voters to be united and create pressure on the political leaders to introduce the voter ID cards.
BGME President Fazlul Haque urged the political parties to work on the basis of dialogue and discussion for continuing economic development in the country.
Former ambassador AHM Mofazzal Karim, Dr MA Majed, journalist Sadeq Khan, musician Apel Mahmud, journalists Mozammel Haque, Ruhul Amin Gazi, and Selim Bhuiyan also spoke.
