JU teacher suspended
The Syndicate of Jahangirnagar University (JU) at an emergency meeting yesterday suspended Golam Mustafa, assistant professor of Bangla department, temporarily for alleged sexual harassment of a first year female student of the department on November 16.
A fact-finding committee, formed to conduct primary investigation of the allegation against the teacher, has found it true, sources said.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The syndicate also decided to form a six-member high-powered probe body headed by Vice-chancellor Prof Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman for further investigation of the allegation.
Earlier, several hundred female students besieged the meeting venue at 4:00pm and continued the demonstration as of 8:30pm when the decision was announced.
