Special security measures ahead of Eid

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken special security measures in cattle markets, shopping centres, railway stations and bus and launch terminals for smooth and secured movement of the people ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.

Plain clothed police will be vigilant along with uniformed policemen to prevent extortion, mugging, pickpocket and harassment of buyers and sellers in the cattle markets.

Legal actions will be taken for selling train, bus and launch tickets in black markets, said a press release.

It said armed police battalion will assist the traffic police and community police at significant crossings for smooth movement of transports.

Terminal-oriented security measures have also been taken with BDR and police to prevent harassment to passengers, snatching and other problems in rail stations, launch and bus terminals.

Mobile courts led by magistrates will take legal action against creating problem for movement of pedestrians through the footpaths, selling adulterated foods, illegal vehicles and overloading.

DMP has also imposed ban on construction of illegal establishments, hanging signboards and instructions on footpath and roads and car parking in front of markets and shops.

It has also asked to set up cattle markets or parking cars only at fixed places.

DMP also asked the transport owners not to take more than the government-fixed fare. No vehicles will be allowed to carry passengers and goods beyond its capacity, a DMP press release said.

In another release DMP said that it is ready to extend cooperation if any person, bank or organisations seek police guard for shifting big amount of money.
