Leaders of the Gonotantrik Jukta Front today called for the publication of a white paper detailing the activities and decisions of the interim government during its time in office.

The statement said that there has already been much discussion and criticism from different groups about the activities of the interim government.

After the mass uprising, the government was given responsibilities such as ensuring justice, carrying out reforms, and organising elections.

“It was also expected to control rising prices, improve law and order, and establish an administration free from party influence and corruption. However, during the interim government’s time, mob violence increased seriously,” the statement reads.

According to the statement, there is a public perception that some statements from government officials directly or indirectly encouraged such incidents.

The statement also said that, except for the verdict in one case against Sheikh Hasina, there has been no significant progress in the trials related to killings during the uprising.

“The widespread misuse of legal cases has led to the harassment of many innocent people,” the statement said. “Instead of making decisions through consensus among all parties, attempts were made to impose them unilaterally, which has hindered important reforms.”

It also said that various corruption allegations against advisers of the interim government have appeared in the media and on social media.

Gonotantrik Jukta Front demanded that the current government publish a white paper detailing activities during the interim period and conduct proper investigations into corruption allegations against the former advisers.

“If anyone is found guilty, they should be brought to justice,” the statement added.

The statement was signed by central leaders including Bazlur Rashid Firoz (General Secretary, BASD), Kazi Sazzad Zahir Chandan (President, CPB), Abdullah Kafi Ratan (General Secretary, CPB), Sharif Nurul Ambia (President, Bangladesh JASD), Iqbal Kabir Zahid (General Secretary, Biplobi Communist League), Mosharrefa Mishu (General Secretary, Gonotantrik Biplobi Party), Masud Rana (Coordinator, BASD-Marxist), Abdul Ali (Executive President, Socialist Party of Bangladesh), Rajat Huda (Acting Coordinator, National Gono Front), and Syed Harun Or Rashid (General Secretary, Sonar Bangla Party).
