Deadline to RU for report on April 10 violence
Ruta threatened a tougher agitation against the university authorities if the probe committee fails to publish its report by April 25.

A group of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists ransacked and stormed the offices of the vice chancellor (VC), students' advisor and proctor and set fire to the chamber of a senior teacher on April 10. Several teachers and students were also injured during the attack.
During his address, Ruta president Prof Nazrul Islam expressed their deep concern over the incident.
Ruta blamed the activists of Jatayatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) for the violence terming it pre-planned. A few senior teachers were also involved in it, they alleged.
Earlier, JCD activists attacked peaceful demonstrations by students. But the university authorities did not action against the culprits.
Ruta also demanded exemplary punishment to the responsible persons.
Ruta general sectary Abdul Hai Talukdar conducted the meeting.
Meanwhile, 546 newly-recruited employees of Rajshahi University (RU) on Sunday held a demonstration on the campus demanding immediate confirmation of their jobs.
They also brought out a protest procession and paraded the campus streets.
The procession was led by Newly Recruited Employees' Interest Preservation Committee convener Rafiqul Islam Sarder.
At a protest meeting in front of the administrative building, they demanded immediate appointment against 255 vacant posts and payment of their previous salaries.
They also urged the teachers, students and
Journalists to support their demand.

The rally was addressed, among others, by Al Amin Biddut, Rafiqul Islam ,Farmal Ali, Zahirul Islam and Rabiul Islam.
The university authorities appointed 546 (third and fourth
class) employees against 255 vacant posts controversially with out advertisement and violating official rules in April last year.
The High Court stayed their controversial recruitment following a case filing of a case by a lawyer, Abu Aslam last year.
