72-hr transport strike in greater Mymensingh threatened

The transport owners' associations of Mymensingh region have threatened a 72-hour transport strike from 6 am tomorrow if their demand for haltage of plying BRTC buses and locally-manufactured transport vehicles like Nasimon, Karimon, trolley and Bhatbati on Sherpur-Netrakona-Kishoreganj-Tarail and Dhulaura roads is not met by today.

The decision was announced at a press conference held at Mymensingh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) office under the banner of greater Mymensingh Transport Owners' Oikya Parishad on Monday.

It was addressed by transport leaders like AKM Shamsuddin, Atiqul Haque Khan, Lutfur Rahman Mohan, Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan, Suraj Ahmed, Shamsuzzaman Rana, Jahangir Alam, Osman Ali and Mir Latifur Rahman

They also demanded immediate withdrawal of 'false cases' against Sehrpur Transport Workers' Union president Shahidul Islam.
