New clues to Comilla editor murder
Comilla police got new clues to murder of Mukta Kantha Editor Muhammad Golam Mahfuz Murder Case following interrogation of three arrested accused on Friday, according to police sources.
Police sources said the arrestees disclosed that the murder was committed in a pre-planned way. One Montu Acharya planned the murder after his failure to repay loan amounting to about Tk 7 lakh. He borrowed the entire amount from the victim with a promise to repay it with due interest. But, he took the plan to kill Mahfuz following a quarrel with him.
'We are very close to unveiling the mystery behind the murder,' said the superintendent of police (SP) of Comilla, Aurongazib Mahbub.
The three arrestees are Md Sukkur, Md Monzil and Ayub. Sukkur and Monzil were nabbed from Shasangachha area while Ayub was arrested from Satarra.
Comilla editor Golam Mahfuz was slaughtered by some unidentified criminals on May 31.
