4 cops hurt in Barisal road accident
Four policemen were injured in a road accident when their vehicle fell into a roadside ditch on the Barisal-Dhaka highway on Thursday.
Police and witnesses said the accident occurred near Batajore in Gournadi upazila when the driver lost control over the steering when trying to avoid collision with a truck coming from the opposite direction at noon on the day.
The injured policemen included Nayek Jahangir, constables Abdur Rab, Rupam Chakma, Binimoy Chakma. Nayek Jahangir was admitted to Barisal Sher-e- Bangla Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Police seized the truck and arrested its driver Paran Mandol, 32.
The police personnel were engaged in protocol duty of commerce minister on the day.
