ANIME REVIEW

Suppose you have a microwave oven and a phone. What do you do? I can only expect you to give me a blank look. Believe me when I say that these two appliances were enough for Okabe to invent a type of time machine. You connect your phone to it; send a text message to your friend and voila! That message was just sent to the past. That's pretty much what happened in the beginning “Steins; Gate”.
I have seen movies on time travelling, but what about an anime? The plot itself fascinated me when I read a bit about it. Okabe Rintarou is a peculiar, self-proclaimed mad scientist. Often referring to himself as 'Houin Kyouma', he is the founder of the Future Gadget Laboratory. No, it's not a huge big-shot organisation he controls. The small laboratory is in his rented room, consisting only of a couch, a computer and other mundane stuff you would expect in an 18 year old's room.
The characters and their bizarre qualities are few of the many things that fascinated me. Makise Kurisu, the female protagonist, is a young talented neuroscience researcher, without whom the whole anime would be boring. You definitely don't want to overlook her.
Okabe's own hacker, Daru, has known him since high school and is a capable programmer. You can't imagine a scientist without his own respective hacker.
Mayuri is a childhood friend of Okabe and is a bit blank-headed (you will definitely like her for that). Kiryuu Moekais an introverted girl who is over protective of her cell phone (doesn't talk to people but texts them even though they are right in front of her). Feyris (who ends every line with 'nyan nyan'), Ruka and Suzuha are other odd characters.
As they perform different experiments, an organisation named SERN, who have been doing their own research on time travel, track them down and various incidents take place about parallel worlds and stuff. The anime is not solely based on that invention, for numerous other gadgets come by (not mentioning their names for the sake of spoilers). The anime shall not fail to deliver that enthralling scientific atmosphere. The plot, other than science fiction, has romance, suspense, decent humour (you should check out the nicknames Okabe gives to each character) and of course, time travelling.
