Chawkbazar Fire: It originated from Wahed Mansion's first floor

The devastating Chawkbazar fire that claimed the lives of at least 71 people on February 20 originated from the first floor of Wahed Mansion, says the probe body formed by the home ministry.

The five-member committee submitted its report to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday.

Seeking anonymity, a home ministry official said the probe body mentioned in its report that the fire ensued from the first floor of the building. But he declined to elaborate further.

On February 22, the home ministry formed the five-member committee, headed by additional secretary Pradip Ranjan Chakraborty, t   o investigate the incident.
