7th ULAB Fair Play Cup Concludes
University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) beat Manarat International University by 7 wickets in the final match of 7th ULAB Fair Play Cup Cricket Tournament. Winning the toss, ULAB chose to field first. MIU scored 105 runs by losing 9 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Anjum Ahmed Jassy of ULAB took 3 wickets in his spell of 4 overs, giving 22 runs. In reply, ULAB scored 109 runs by losing 3 wickets in 16.3 overs. Hasanuzzaman of ULAB scored 50 runs in 45 balls and was adjudged 'Man of the Final'. On the same day, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) beat North South University (NSU) by 34 runs in the third place deciding match.
Mahbub Anam, Director, Bangladesh Cricket Board was present at the closing ceremony as chief guest. He admired the initiative of ULAB authorities to promote cricket. He handed over the trophy to Asif Pathan, Captain of the ULAB team. Richard McInnes, Head Coach of the National Cricket Academy, was also present there as special guest. Hasanuzzaman of ULAB was awarded as the 'Man of the Tournament' for his 203 runs. Chinmoy Roy was nominated as the 'Best Fielder of the Tournament'.
Among others, Kazi Inam Ahmed, Director, Bangladesh Cricket Board; Kazi Anis Ahmed, ULAB Board of Trustees Vice President; Professor Imran Rahman, ULAB Vice Chancellor; Professor Choudhury Mahmood Hasan, Manarat International University Vice Chancellor, were present at the closing ceremony.
Daffodil University Signs MoU with bKash
To introduce a new and convenient mobile payment option for students, Daffodil International University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with bKash Ltd, a subsidiary company of BRAC Bank Ltd. The agreement was signed on February 4, 2014 at the conference room of the university. As per the agreement, DIU students will get the opportunity to pay their admission fee, registration fees, semester fees and other university fees through bKash.
Professor Dr. A.K.M. Fazlul Hoque, Registrar of DIU and Rezaul Hossain, Chief Commercial Manager of bKash Limited, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions. Among others, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of DIU; Professor Dr. Golam Maowla Choudhury, Controller of Examinations; Mominul Haque Majumder, Director (Finance & Accounts) were present at the signing ceremony.
NSU YES! Distributes Warm Clothes

North South University Young Entrepreneurs Society (NSU YES!), the only business club of the university, took the initiative of a CSR activity for the very first time. The club decided to come out of the world of corporate and take a step towards humanity, to dedicate their time and efforts to help the struggling families at the northern part of the country at times of need. Mohammad Hannan Miah, Faculty advisor of NSU YES! gave his consent regarding the noble cause. The Executive Body of the club took all the necessary steps to implement the plans. This winter the NSU YES! team set their new project with the motto 'A step towards Humanity.'
More than 10,000 warm clothes were collected to be served among more than 3000 needy families in different areas of Panchagarh, Dinajpur, and Rangpur. The team reached Panchagarh on January 25, 2014 to distribute the clothes. Coupons were sent to the families beforehand in order to ensure efficient and proper distribution of clothes in four different areas: Dhakkamara, Patshiri, Tetulia, and Panchagarh town.
The team gave away the clothes in four different areas of the city throughout the day. Almost 2000 clothes for infants were handed over to the families along with over 550 warm blankets. Warm clothes were provided in selected areas of Dinajpur and Rangpur the next day. The sincere efforts of chairman and the locals and their hospitality made the project a success.
Apart from that, almost 1000 families in Dhaka were provided with warm clothes as part of the CSR project. All the warm clothes were collected by the members of NSU YES!
Photo Exhibition at UAP
A three-day photo exhibition, organised by PhotoPhilic, photography club of Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) concluded at the department premises on January 28, 2014. Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of UAP, inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest on January 26, while Professor M.R. Kabir, Pro Vice Chancellor of the university, attended the programme as special guest. Photography can play strong role in bringing world peace and resisting violence in the country and around the world, Professor Choudhury said while addressing the programme. Current and former students and faculty members of UAP participated in the exhibition. A total of 56 photos, selected from hundreds of entries, were on display for three days. Tanvir Murad Topu, faculty of Pathshala, South Asian Media Academy, was the head of jury for the selection.
