Economics Department of SEU prsentes research proposal

Department of Economics, Southeast University (SEU) presented a research proposal on “Misuse of Antibiotics in Bangladesh” on January 30, 2014 at at SEU conference room. Professor Dr. Anwar Hossain, Vice Chancellor of SEU; Professor Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, Pro Vice Chancellor (designate) were present at the programme. Mohammad Habibullah Pulok, Lecturer, Department of Economics, presented the proposal. Among others, Brigadier General (Retd) Md. Anwarul Islam, Registrar; Professor Dr. M. Abdul Hakim, Dean (acting), School of Arts and Social Sciences; Professor Syed Fakhrul Hassan, Dean (acting), School of Science & Engineering and Proctor of the University; Professor Dr. Sharif Nurul Ahkam, SBS, were present at the programme.

ULAB remembers Khaled Khan

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organised an event titled, “Tumi Robe Nirobe: In Remembrance of Khaled Khan” on February 9, 2014 at its auditorium. ULAB's Shangskriti Shangshad paid their tribute to Khaled Khan by singing some of his favourite songs, including the song Khaled Khan had selected to be ULAB's theme song, “Shotter o pore mon”.
Theatre ULAB, which was closely associated with the late actor, paid special tribute to Khaled Khan by showcasing the performance of selected scenes from the final play they worked on with him, Rabinthanath Tagore's “Daak Ghar”.
Aly Zaker was the key speaker at the event. Mita Haque, eminent singer and widow of Khaled Khan, also spoke at the event. Vice President of ULAB Board of Trustees, Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed, recounted his personal association with the late actor, while Professor Imran Rahman, ULAB Vice Chancellor, gave credit to Khaled Khan for his contribution to ULAB.

Green University Marketing Club Organises Book Fair

Green University Marketing Club organised a book fair in collaboration with Pearson Education on February 5, 2014 at Green University campus. The book fair began at 10 in the morning and finished at 5 pm. The main objective of the fair was to introduce books from Pearson Education to students and faculties and to encourage students to purchase original books.
Vice Chancellor of Green University, Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, inaugurated the book fair. Treasurer of the university, Md. Shahid Ullah; Chairperson of Department of Business Administration, Shawkat Kamal; moderator of Green Marketing Club, Zaved Mannan; Deputy Moderator of GMC, Rokeya Binte Shahid; President of the Green University Marketing Club, Md. Abul Hasan Sumon, and many others were also present at the event.

Green Talent Search Workshop at IUB

Department of Environmental Science (DES), in association with Monte Carlo Informatics Club (MCIC) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), organised the 3rd round workshop of Green Talent Search programme on February 8. The programme focused on extemporary speech on contemporary environmental issues to promote environmental science education in Bangladesh. The initiative aims at exploring the potentials of the students of DES, especially the creativity and innovativeness of young scientists.
The programme is designed to create a competent society with sound environmental knowledge. This platform will be used to explore the future leaders who will lead Bangladesh with scientific knowledge. Professor Dr. M. Omar Raman, Vice Chancellor of IUB, was present as chief guest, while Dr. Tanvir A. Khan, Registrar of IUB, was present as special guest at the event. Professor Dr. M. Ali Hossain, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management, IUB, gave the opening speech emphasising the importance of such an event and wishing the participants well.
Two documentaries were screened at the event focusing the objectives of Green Talent Search Programme and the process description of the 3rd round competition, scheduled to be held on February 13, 2014. A total of 503 undergraduate students of IUB participated in the screening round. Among them, 121 students qualified for the second round that took place on November 16, 2013. In the third round, the students will have to make an extemporary speech on popular and emerging environmental issues. The final round, known as 'Gala Round' will be held on February 27, 2014.
