BSO is a school-based science programme designed to instil curiosity in children by introducing them to the exciting scopes of science and technology. It is a project hosted by Samaj Unnayan Sangstha and supported by IER. Under this programme, youths with technical background and having passion for teaching are trained by the faculties of IER to hone their teaching skills and become mentors.

The mentor teams will go to each of these schools and hold 4 workshops for Class VII students on physics and astronomy; chemistry and biology; engineering and technology; and science in Bangladesh. The aim of the programme is to promote learning science through understanding and curiosity and not through memorisation, in order to build a scientifically literate community.
