NSU SIGNS MOU WITH EATL

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between North South University (NSU) and Ethics Advanced Technology Ltd. (EATL) was signed recently for collaboration in ICT and its development. This is an excellent collaboration between academia and industry for engaging students in training, mobile apps development, research and development activities. EATL and NSU will work together for the utilisation of knowledge and skills in socio-economic development and for supporting the business sectors.
Professor Dr. Amin U. Sarkar, Vice Chancellor of NSU, and M.A. Mubin Khan, Chairman and Managing Director of EATL, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations. Among others, Dr. Miftahur Rahman, Dean, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences; Dr. Syed Saad, Dean, School of Business; Dr. Kazi Abu Sayeed, Proctor; Dr. Kazi M.A. Salam, Chairman, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Dr. Rajesh Palit, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; and Nizam Uddin Ahmed, CEO of EATL,  were present at the signing ceremony.

SEMINAR AT BUBT

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organised a seminar on higher studies in Australia on January 3, 2014 at the auditorium of its permanent campus. Professor Dr. Humayun Murshed, senior faculty from Charles Sturt University, Sydney, Australia, visited BUBT and was present at the seminar as the keynote speaker. Professor Murshed discussed different aspects of higher studies in Australian universities and highlighted the possible benefits of academic exchange programmes between BUBT and some Australian universities through cross fertilisation of academic and intellectual activities. He also discussed the possibility and various aspects of academic collaboration of BUBT with Charles Sturt University and expressed his hopes to sign a MoU.
Professor Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Chairman of BUBT Trust, was present as chief guest. Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor of the university, presided over the seminar. Among others, deans of different faculties, chairmen and faculty members of different departments were present at the seminar.

The Carter Academy, Chandpur excels in JSC 2013

The Carter Academy (TCA), the lone English medium residential school in Matlab (North) Upazila of Chandpur, did exceptionally well in JSC (Junior School Certificate) Examination 2013. In line with previous years, the pass record was 100 percent with all the candidates securing GPA 5. Professor Md. Iqbal Hossain, Principal of the academy, said that the result was the outcome of a combined effort by the students and teachers. TCA is a well-equipped residential school which provides globally competitive education to motivate the students so that they can reach academic excellence. Its curriculum focuses on leadership development, skills development and physical fitness in a disciplined academic setting.

Architecture Programme of State University receives IAB Accreditation

IAB (Institute of Architects Bangladesh) assigned Accreditation Standards of IAB (ASIAB) to B. Arch programme offered by the Department of Architecture of State University of Bangladesh (SUB). SUB is now one of the six universities currently having the honour of IAB accreditation which allows a graduate to work as a certified architect and a member of IAB. Recently BUET has also awarded an equivalent status to B. Arch programme of SUB that will allow admission of SUB graduates to BUET's post graduate/M. Arch programme.
To mark the achievement, Alumni Association of Department of Architecture of SUB recently organised an open discussion on 'Educational System of Architectural Schools in Bangladesh' at Emmanuelle's Convention Centre, Shimanto Square.
Professor Dr. Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of SUB, attended the event as chief guest. Professor Khairul Enam, Head of the Department of Architecture, chaired the discussion. Dr. A.M. Shamim, President, Board of Trustee of the university, congratulated faculty members and students of architecture for achieving this honour.
