Employment opportunity in JAPAN for local IT PROFESSIONALS

Bangla Business Partner (BBP), Japan in association with Daffodil Institute of Information Technology (DIIT) is going to organise “IT Talent Contest-2014” with a view to create employment opportunity in Japan for Bangladeshi IT students. In the first phase, 20 contestants will get employment opportunity in Japan. Gradually IT professionals will get employment opportunities in different Japanese companies operating in Japan, USA, Canada and other countries. Final year students of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from different institutions of the country, fresh graduates and IT professionals are eligible to participate in the contest.
The contest will take place in four different phases. In the first phase, preliminary selection will be carried out through online MCQ and IQ test. In the second phase a problem solving contest will be held in presence of local IT experts. In the third phase contestants will be selected through local interview and in the final phase Japanese employers will finalise the candidates for recruitment.

Master's in Computer Applications at BRAC University

BRAC University is launching a new academic programme, Master's in Computer Applications (MCA). This programme is designed for students from diverse backgrounds who are looking for a Master's degree in computer applications. This degree will have worldwide acceptance like other BRACU degrees, and the programme will operate like any other graduation programme offered by the university. The objective of this programme is to create graduates capable of facing the challenges of the growing IT industry. The programme is designed in a way that will help students specialise in any of the six major tracks: Software Engineering, Database Management System, Communications, Hardware, Project Management or MIS, Web and E-business. The salient features of this course will allow students from non-IT backgrounds to build career in the IT sector.

Architecture Dept of AIUB receives IAB accreditation

Department of Architecture, American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) received accreditation from the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) on January 12, 2014. In response to AIUB's application, IAB approved the accreditation after a rigorous scrutiny and evaluation. A team from IAB, consisting of its President Dr. Abu Sayeed Mushtaque Ahmed; Additional General Secretary, Mamnoon Morshed Chowdhury; Secretary of Education, Dr. Zakiul Islam, formally handed over the accreditation status to the Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna. The accreditation is a big achievement for AIUB as it reflects the standard of education provided by Architecture Department. It will be helpful for the architecture graduates of AIUB since it will open up a new horizon for them in the professional field.
Dr. Siddique Hossain and M. Arefeen Ibrahim on behalf of the Department of Architecture thanked IAB team for the cooperation and expressed hopes that the programme will continue to receive support from IAB.

Training Programme on Apps Development at NSU

A five-day long training programme on mobile applications development took place at North South University from January 11 to January 15, 2013. The programme was a part of the project “64 District Mobile Application Development Programme” initiated by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology. During the five days, students learned Java and Android applications that will help them create mobile applications through practical classes in later part of their training. Sunil Kumar Bose, Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), attended the inaugural ceremony of the programme as chief guest. Professor Amin U. Sarkar, Vice Chancellor of North South University, was in the chair. In his speech, the chief guest said, “It is necessary to build a strong software industry to meet the demands of national and international markets, increase foreign remittance, attract international investors and decrease the dependency on import. This initiative will help to create a strong software industry in our country.”
Among others, Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology; Dr. Mohammad Abul Hossen, Deputy Secretary and Project Director, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology; Professor Dr. Miftahur Rahman, Dean, School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, were present at the ceremony.
