Daffodil University marks 12th Anniversary

To mark its 12th founding day, Daffodil International University (DIU) organised a programme on January 24, 2014 at its conference room. Mohammad Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU, was present at the programme as chief guest. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of DIU; Professor Dr. Aminul Islam, Founder Vice Chancellor of DIU; Professor Dr. A.K.M. Fazlul Hoque, Registrar; Professor Rafiqul Islam, Dean (Acting), FBE, and many others were also present at the function. A ceremonial programme, marking the anniversary will be held on February 15, 2014 at the permanent campus of the university in Ashulia. Addressing the programme, Sabur Khan thanked all whose efforts have helped establish DIU as a renowned university in Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi youth receives 'Trainer of the Year Award' in Australia

Shakir Karim, a Master of Informatics from Central Queensland University, Australia, recently received the prestigious 'Trainer of the Year 2013 Award' from Windsor Institute of Commerce, a registered training organisation in Sydney. Shakir was awarded for his contribution to the improvement of quality of international students' learning, overall student experiences, teaching experiences, teaching approaches and approaches to foster independent learning and develop students as individuals. Shakir is at present doing his Ph.D. in 'E-Commerce and Security' under Dr. Ergun Gide of Central Queensland University, who was one of the first among educators to obtain Ph.D. in E-Commerce. Shakir held academic excellence in both of his Bachelors and Masters [of Information System] at the same university. He was a student of St. Joseph High School, Dhaka and Norte Dame College, Dhaka.

 

Orientation programme at East Delta University

Orientation programme for the students of spring-2014 semester of East Delta University (EDU) Chittagong, took place on January 26, 2014 at Prabortak Centre, Chittagong. Naquib Khan, corporate affairs director of Nestle Bangladesh, was present as orientation speaker at the programme, while Professor Muhammad Sekandar Khan, Vice Chancellor of the university, was in the chair. Sayeed Al Noman, Vice Chairman of EDU; Professor Dr. M.M. Nurul Absar Nahid, Associate Dean; Shafayet Kabir Chowdhury, Registrar of EDU, many students and guardians were also present at the programme. In his speech, Naquib Khan urged the students to chase their dreams to reach success. He wished all the best to the students of undergraduate and MBA programmes.

 

Orientation of Spring Semester at Green University

The orientation programme of spring semester-2014 of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) was held recently at the auditorium of the university. Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, presided over the programme. Among others, Treasurer of GUB, Md. Shahid Ullah; Advisor of Law Faculty, Professor Dr. Md. Maimul Ahsan Khan; Dean of Science and Engineering Faculty, Professor Dr. Md. Saifur Rahman, were present at the programme. The programme included introduction, presentation and briefing sessions. The presentation session addressed academic systems and rules, advising and registration process, different clubs and co-curricular activities, career services, IT and other facilities and necessary information about the university.
The Vice Chancellor welcomed the newly enrolled students and thanked the guardians for their trust in GUB. He emphasised that to be a good citizen it is necessary to be competitive both in academic areas and extra-curricular activities.
