Stocks fall on profit booking
The stockmarket fell today breaking an eight-day gaining streak, as investors went for booking profits.
The DSEX, benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), fell 12 points, or 0.22 per cent, to stand at 5,485.86.
However, turnover, an important indicator of the stock market, rose 0.55 per cent to Tk 1,194 crore.
The prices of many stocks rose 10 to 15 per cent during the gains of the stockmarket in the last eight consecutive days, said a stock broker.
So, investors took profit today, he said. "This is a good sign for the market."
At the DSE, 102 stocks advanced, 191 fell and 62 remained unchanged.
