10 hurt in BCL factional clash
Two factions of the Omargani MES University College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League clashed on Chittagong city's Zakir Hossain Road near the campus yesterday, injuring 10 people.
Of the injured, Sabbir, Sajjad and Moqbul were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Around 100 activists of the two groups attacked each other with sharp weapons and sticks, said Nizam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station.
Later, police dispersed both the groups and detained two persons on the spot, said the OC, adding that they could not ascertain the motive for the clash immediately.
However, witnesses said they clashed to establish supremacy.
The BCL unit's dissolved committee president Md Wasim and general secretary Arshadul Alam Bachchu did not received phone calls when The Daily Star tried to contact them.
