'Abduction survivor' Ruet BCL leader returns to family

"Kidnapped" Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Saifuzzaman Sohag, who was found in Chittagong early Wednesday after 14 days, was handed over to his family yesterday.

Earlier, a Rajshahi court recorded his statement when police produced him before it.

Sohag's family said his "abductors" released him blindfolded near a roadside restaurant in Chittagong's Mirsarai.

On December 10, Sohag, a 4th year student of mechanical engineering at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology and information and research affairs secretary of Ruet BCL unit, was picked up from his city residence by plainclothes men who identified themselves as Rab members.

However, both the local police and the Rab said they did not arrest him.
