BCL factional clash injures three at DU

Three activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League were injured in a factional clash at a dormitory of Dhaka University yesterday over establishing supremacy.

Of the injured Rony, a student of 4th year, and Suman of 3rd year were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Identity of the other injured could not be known immediately.

Campus sources said the incident took place at Shahidullah Hall over "grabbing seats" in the dormitory.

Followers of Tuhin, a leader of Mymensingh group of the dormitory unit of BCL and supporters of Rakib, who leads Barisal group, clashed with iron rods, machetes and sticks.

BCL President Abid al-Hassan said internal squabble led to the factional clash.

"Police searched some rooms and found few sticks and rods. We will form an investigation committee to take organisational action against them," Abid al-Hasan told The Daily Star.
