CPA's water treatment plant opens

Chittagong Port Authority launched its newly installed desalination and water treatment plant on the CPA premises yesterday.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan opened it while CPA Chairman Rear Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed chaired the inaugural ceremony.
Nizamuddin said the water from the river Karnaphuli and rainwater will be used in the plant, with a capacity of producing 8,800 tonnes of water per day.
From now on, CPA itself can meet its own water demand, he said.
The CPA took the project of Tk 24 crore on January 6, 2014.
