CU students demand bus service during Eid vacation

Some residential students of Chittagong University yesterday locked its main entrance demanding a bus for travelling to the city, 22km away from the campus, during this Eid vacation when shuttle train services have remained stopped.

Around 30 to 40 students locked the main entrance around 5:30pm and they withdrew their barricade after 20 minutes when police rushed in, said Md. Salauddin, inspector (investigation) of Hathazari Police Station.

CU Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury, however, said the student left the place after providing them an assurance of the bus service.

"We talked to the CU authorities around 3:00pm and they had assured us of arranging a bus to travel to the city from 3:30pm. We had waited at the main entrance from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, but the authorities did not keep their words," said an agitator.
