Destroying academic life by arsons inhumane: DU VC

Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique yesterday described those burning people in petrol bomb attacks and destroying the academic life of students in the name of political movement as inhuman.
He was addressing a discussion "Duty against conspiracy to spoil academic life by petrol bomb and militant violence", arranged by Bangladesh College-University Teachers' Association in Dhaka Reporters Unity.
Prof Arefin also claimed that the core objective of the movement is not to establish democracy. "This is a conspiracy to shield the war criminals by destroying the country and its Liberation War achievements."
The Liberation War ethos needs to be kept alive through protecting the country's education sector, he added.
Former caretaker government adviser Rasheda K Chowdhury, and former pro-VC of Buet Prof Dr Habibur Rahman, among others, spoke.
