DU theatre festival opens
The 10th Annual Theatre Festival of Dhaka University started at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) yesterday.
The theatre and performance studies department of DU organised the six-day festival, celebrating its 20th founding anniversary.
Speaking as chief guest, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor urged the cultural activists to continue promoting fine arts.
Editor and Publisher of The Daily Star Mahfuz Anam said one needed to grow a good taste for fine arts to become a quality human being.
Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the festival.
Later, a drama named "Bent" by Martin Sherman was staged.
The cultural affairs ministry has sponsored the festival, with support from The Daily Star and Standard Chartered Bank.
