Fake Covid-19 Certificates: Rab arrests Regent Group MD Parvez from Gazipur

Star Online Report

The Rapid Action Battalion arrested Masud Parvez, managing director of Regent Group, from Gazipur this evening.

Parvez, also a close aide of Regent Group Chairman Md Shahed, was arrested from Kapasia area of Gazipur around 7:00pm,  Lt Col Ashique Billah, director of Rab's legal and media wing, told The Daily Star.

He is the second accused in a case filed by Rab for issuing fake Covid-19 test reports from Regent Hospital, said Ashique Billah.

Parvez had assisted Shahed to forge Covid-19 certificates, said the Rab official.

On July 7, Rab filed a case against Shahed and 16 other staffers of Regent Group and Regent hospitals after a mobile court found proof that the hospital authorities had issued fake Covid-19 certificates and charged patients for tests and treatment, violating an agreement with the government.

Shahed went into hiding after the drive began on that day.
