German national confesses to ATM scam

A German national accused of siphoning off cash from ATM booths yesterday made a confessional statement about his involvement in the recent ATM scam.

Metropolitan Magistrate Atikur Rahman recorded the  confession of Piotr Szczepan Mazurek, said a court source.

Maksed alias Maksud, Rezaul Karim alias Shaheen, and Refaz Ahmed alias Rony, all employees of City Bank, were also arrested and remanded in connection with the scam.

Detectives earlier said a ring of fraudsters skimmed off ATM cards of the clients and withdrew money from various booths of three banks.
