Govt fills five vacant posts of acting secys

The government yesterday appointed five acting secretaries to different ministries and divisions.

Additional Secretary of Local Government Division Ashok Madhob Roy has been posted to the shipping ministry; Kazi Akhtar Uddin Ahmed, director general of Bangladesh Betar, to the youth and sports ministry, while Mohammad Nurunnabi Talukder, director general of NGO Affairs Bureau, has been appointed at the Public Service Commission.

Ahmed Hossain Khan, chairman of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation, and Begum Shahin Khan, chairman of Bangladesh Space Research & Remote Sensing Organization, have been made acting members of the Planning Commission and Privatization Commission respectively with the status of acting secretary, says a press release of the public administration ministry.

Those posts fell vacant between October 21 and November 30 and the government did not appoint anyone which many bureaucrats termed unusual.

Education Secretary NI Khan has gone to Post Retirement Leave on November 30 and none has been appointed in that position till now, said sources.
