All three teachers of journalism and media studies department of Jahangirnagar University yesterday submitted a letter to the vice chancellor announcing that they will observe work abstention until the department chairperson is removed from the post.
The teachers alleged that the chairperson, Dr Amina Islam, takes decisions without holding any academic council meetings, misbehaves with teachers and students, does not participate in any programme organised by the department and also did not support them in their protest against the incident where police beat up their fellow teacher Rakib Ahmed.
