JU dorm at high risk after quake
Wide and dangerous cracks have developed in the one-storey tin-roof building, constructed as an extension of Al-Biruni Hall of Jahangirnagar University, after Monday's earthquake, but the authorities were yet to evacuate the dorm. Fearing collapse, many of the 200 students residing in the six-block building, however, have left on their own accord. Provost Prof AKM Jasim Uddin said the vice chancellor visited the building, and the authorities would decide whether the building, constructed in 1982, would be abandoned or repaired. This photographer spotted at least 40 cracks in the wall, pillars, ceiling and basement. The photos were taken on Monday. Photo: SM Najmus Sakib
