JU starts celebrations

To mark its 45th founding anniversary, Jahangirnagar University began a four-day programme on the campus with much enthusiasm yesterday.

JU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Farzana Islam inaugurated the programme by hoisting national and university flags where JU pro-VC, treasurer and registrar were present, among others.

Later, a colourful procession was brought out where students, teachers and university staffs participated.

The four-day programme also includes memorial discussions, puppet show, Pitha Utshab and cultural programme at Selim Al Deen Muktamanch.

The reunion of JU will be held on the last day of the programme -- on Friday -- and Thursday is the last day for registration. Details can be found at www.jualumni-bd.org

The university was founded on August 20 in 1970 and began its academic activities on January 12, 1971.
