Madaripur road crash kills one

A man was killed in a road accident in Kulopdi area of Sadar upazila in Madaripur yesterday, reports our Faridpur correspondent.

The deceased -- identified as Liton Hawladar (25), son of Khalil Hawladar from Kalaimara village in the same upazila -- was a carpenter, according to local police.

Quoting locals, Kamrul Hasan Mia, officer-in-charge of Madaripur Sadar Police Station said, "The accident took place when a tractor ran a motorbike Liton was riding to Madaripur town around 8am."

Liton died on the spot, Kamrul Hasan further said.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Madaripur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police seized the tractor, but the driver managed to flee the scene, added the police official.
