Man held with firearms, ammo

Police arrested a man with a pistol and ammunition from Hathazari upazila in Chattogram on Sunday night.

The arrestee was Md Shahbuddin Maruf Shipu, 42, said police.

Additional Super-intendent of Police Abdullah Al Masum said a team of police chased Shipu in Komolpara area of Hathazari, acting on a tip-off. The criminal took shelter in a mosque to save himself, Masum said.

Police found him inside the mosque and arrested him with a foreign-made pistol, two magazines and seven rounds of bullets, said the official, adding that a case was filed in this connection with Hathazari Police Station.
