Missing former UP member found dead

A former Union Parishad member was found dead in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram yesterday two days after he had gone missing.

The deceased -- Shamsul Alam, 80 -- was former member of Lelang union in the upazila, said Babul Akhter, officer-in-charge (OC) of Fatikchhari Police Station.

Fishermen first noticed the body in an adjacent marshland around 6am, said the OC.

Lelang UP Chairman Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury said Shamsul had been missing since he went out of home to a take stroll after dinner on Friday.

OC Babul said the body did not bear any injury mark and the family did not file any complaint. An unnatural death case was filed, he added.
