No cattle market beside highways: Ctg SP

Police will not allow cattle markets beside roads and highways in Chattogram district in a bid to avoid traffic gridlock ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Chattogram district’s Superintendent of Police Noor-e-Alam Mina revealed the decision yesterday at a meeting between police and transport stakeholders at a local community centre in the port city.

Police will also act strictly to prevent extortion and mugging on highways, the SP said.

Some 3,000 officers will be on duty round the clock during Eid, he added.
