Nobel winner speaks at IUB
Winner of the 1989 Nobel Prize for Medicine Harold Varmus yesterday delivered a talk at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in the capital's Bashundhara.
He is also the co-chair of US President Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. In his talk on "the Importance of Science", he mainly focused on cancer.
Later, he was inducted as the Scholar-in-Residence of IUB for 2015. Gowher Rizvi, international affairs adviser to the prime minister; and Rashed Chowdhury, IUB chairman, attended the programme.
