Opponents of Sust VC write to minister for solution

A section of pro-Awami League teachers of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) yesterday sent a letter to the education minister, requesting guidelines to restore normalcy on the campus and replace the incumbent vice chancellor.

There are a number of Sust teachers who deserve to be the VC, the teachers under the banner of "Mohan Muktijuddher Chetonay Udbuddho Shikkhak Brindo" said in the letter.

The teachers have been demanding VC Prof Md Aminul Haque Bhuiyan's resignation since mid-April, accusing him of misbehaviour, irregularities, and nepotism.

Bhuiyan was a former professor of Dhaka University.

As part of their non-stop movement, his opponents staged a two-hour sit-in in front of the VC's office yesterday.

The platform yesterday wrote to the minister in response to a letter the education ministry sent to Sust on August 24 urging all to restore academic atmosphere on the campus.
